We commemorated Mandela Day, a day deeply rooted in our Marist characteristic of Simplicity, by setting a challenge for our students to collect 670 cans of soup to donate to our charities. The number “67” represents the years Nelson Mandela fought for human rights.
We arranged the cans of soup in the High School quadrangle to form the number 46664, symbolising Mandela’s prison number and his enduring fight for freedom. The cans of soup will then be distributed to our charities.
Furthermore, we invited all of our parents, grandparents, friends and teachers to dedicate 67 minutes to making sandwiches for the less privileged in our MRC amphitheatre. The sandwiches and soup cans are now packed and ready for distribution to those in need in our local community.
It was truly heartwarming to receive such generous donations from all our students, parents, guardians and staff. We thank you once again for being a part of our one-school initiative at Marist Brothers Linmeyer.
