It was a joy to welcome Br Luis Carlos Gutierrez (Vicar General), Br Jorge Gaio (Econome General) and Br Emmanuel Mwanalirenji-Gunduloniwere (Provincial of Southern Africa) to all of our schools in October. Their interactions with all members of our schools were fruitful and displayed the essence of Marist values in action.
Heritage Day Celebration at St David’s Marist Inanda
This year’s Heritage Day at St David’s Marist Inanda was a vibrant celebration of our rich cultures and traditions! Our prep boys from Grade 00 to Grade 7 immersed themselves in a day filled with fun, learning, and creativity. Here’s a glimpse of the activities that made the day unforgettable:
**Cultural Performances**
The boys showcased their talents with traditional songs and dances, bringing to life the diverse heritages represented in our school community. The lively gumboot and Zulu dancing captivated everyone, highlighting the joy and spirit of our culture.
**Drumming by The Drum Cafe**
The rhythmic beats of the Drum Cafe got everyone involved! The boys participated in an energetic drumming session, fostering teamwork and a deeper connection to our musical heritage.
**Bead and Hut Making**
Creativity flowed in our arts and crafts sessions, where the boys learned the traditional skills of bead and hut making. They crafted beautiful pieces that reflected their understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
**Culinary Delights**
Our taste buds were treated to a delightful feast as teachers braaied delicious boerie rolls for all to enjoy. This hearty meal was a favorite among the boys, adding to the day’s festive spirit.
**Storytelling Sessions**
In small groups, students gathered to hear captivating stories from various cultures. This activity fostered a deeper appreciation for our history and the lessons that come from it, sparking curiosity and conversation among the boys.
