The community came together for a special Mass to honour and remember St Marcellin Champagnat, which was then followed by festivities and delicious food for everyone from Grade 00 to Matric. The staff and parents are also included. On this day all the Marist values come together, Presence, In Mary’s Way, Love of Work, Simplicity, and Family Spirit.

Celebrating Champagnat Day – Marist Brothers Linmeyer

On 6 June 2024, we celebrated Champagnat Day Mass in L’Hermitage Hall, a shift from our usual venue in the High School quad, but all the more special.

The Marist Brothers Linmeyer community gathered to honour the remarkable life and work of St. Marcellin Champagnat, the founder of the Marist schools worldwide. The day included a Mass presided over by our chaplain Fr Tshepo Duik, along with priests from some neighbouring parishes. Afterwards, our High School participated in an Alumni soccer and netball match that built the connection of our family that continues even after matriculating. Our Pre-School and Primary School enjoyed their morning with fun-filled games and picnics that allowed them to bond over the importance of our school’s history.

We extend our gratitude to the Marist Brothers Linmeyer community for joining us in this celebration.

Today, we gathered to celebrate the feast of St Marcellin Champagnat, our Marist founder!

During our Champagnat Day Mass, students, teachers, alumni and invited guests gathered to worship and reflect on the teachings of St Marcellin Champagnat. The Champagnat Day Pledges were presented by each class, committing to acts of service for others. A truly remarkable way to pay tribute to the founder of our Marist schools, fostering the spirit of compassion and dedication that St Marcellin Champagnat embodied.

Student leaders and mentors

By Dominican Convent Belgravia No Comments

Our Grade 4 to 8 students voted for Grade 7 Student Leaders and Grade 8 Mentors. Student Mentors were selected from learners who were Student Leaders in Grade 7 in 2023. Each mentor was assigned one or two Student Leaders to guide and assist throughout the year. These learners will be assigned responsibilities in and around the school during the formal school day.

Our Student Leaders and Mentors require strong, visible, natural, personal qualities displayed in their everyday activities to be selected as developing learners with natural leadership potential.

16 Grade 7 Student Leaders and 9 Grade 8 Student Leaders were announced on Wednesday 6 March at a school assembly. On Thursday 7 March the Student Leaders and Mentors and their badges were blessed by Father Letsie during Mass, and they committed themselves to their positions and responsibilities by reading aloud the Student Leaders Pledge.
