It was a joy to welcome Br Luis Carlos Gutierrez (Vicar General), Br Jorge Gaio (Econome General) and Br Emmanuel Mwanalirenji-Gunduloniwere (Provincial of Southern Africa) to all of our schools in October. Their interactions with all members of our schools were fruitful and displayed the essence of Marist values in action.
Heritage Day Celebration at St David’s Marist Inanda
This year’s Heritage Day at St David’s Marist Inanda was a vibrant celebration of our rich cultures and traditions! Our prep boys from Grade 00 to Grade 7 immersed themselves in a day filled with fun, learning, and creativity. Here’s a glimpse of the activities that made the day unforgettable:
**Cultural Performances**
The boys showcased their talents with traditional songs and dances, bringing to life the diverse heritages represented in our school community. The lively gumboot and Zulu dancing captivated everyone, highlighting the joy and spirit of our culture.
**Drumming by The Drum Cafe**
The rhythmic beats of the Drum Cafe got everyone involved! The boys participated in an energetic drumming session, fostering teamwork and a deeper connection to our musical heritage.
**Bead and Hut Making**
Creativity flowed in our arts and crafts sessions, where the boys learned the traditional skills of bead and hut making. They crafted beautiful pieces that reflected their understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
**Culinary Delights**
Our taste buds were treated to a delightful feast as teachers braaied delicious boerie rolls for all to enjoy. This hearty meal was a favorite among the boys, adding to the day’s festive spirit.
**Storytelling Sessions**
In small groups, students gathered to hear captivating stories from various cultures. This activity fostered a deeper appreciation for our history and the lessons that come from it, sparking curiosity and conversation among the boys.
**Quiz Fun**
A cultural quiz challenged the boys’ knowledge and encouraged them to learn more about the diverse backgrounds represented in our school. It was a fun and engaging way to test their understanding of heritage!
**Afrikaans Song and Dance**
To round off the celebrations, the boys participated in Afrikaans songs and dances, bringing an energetic conclusion to the day’s festivities.
Heritage Day was not only a day of fun but also an important reminder of our shared values and the strength found in our diversity. We are grateful to all the parents, teachers, and students who made this day such a resounding success!
Here’s to celebrating our rich tapestry of cultures at St David’s Marist Inanda!
The College Gents went above and beyond today in an effort to pack as many bags of ready-to-make soup as they could as part of their 67 minutes contribution to the #MandelaDay effort. 😁
The completed bags will be donated to Bet on Better, who will be distributing the bags to ECD schools and communities in the Groot Marico district (North-West Province) where children receive meals. Additionally, we will also be distributing bags in Alexandra through St Hubert’s Catholic Church. 🫶
Thank you to everyone involved in this great cause. #StDavidsMaristIanda #67Minutes #FamilySpirit

“February is a month of Love and on this special day of Ash Wednesday, we give it back to the one that sacrificed his life for us. As we pray, fast, and give to those in need, let us also remember to take good care of ourselves. Have a blessed and fruitful Ash Wednesday.” – Fr Privilege Tshabalala OMI
Marist Mercy Care is one of the largest non-profit organisations in the Sundays River Valley. They run a number of incredibly enriching community based initiatives throughout the year that add great value to the lives of the children, youth and aged in the area. Student leaders of the Marist Schools in South Africa volunteered at the December summer camp which was attended by over 400 children in the Addo area to add fun and learning to their Christmas holidays.
