Our Matric Induction Mass was a very special occasion. As is tradition, the Matrics led the Grade One pupils into Mass to welcome them to the next stage of their educational journey.
Marist Mercy Care is one of the largest non-profit organisations in the Sundays River Valley. They run a number of incredibly enriching community based initiatives throughout the year that add great value to the lives of the children, youth and aged in the area. Student leaders of the Marist Schools in South Africa volunteered at the December summer camp which was attended by over 400 children in the Addo area to add fun and learning to their Christmas holidays.
Every year, the Marist Schools in South Africa set aside an hour in October to say a decade of the Rosary during this special month. October is seen as the month of the Rosary due to the fact that the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on 7 October. As Marists, we have a special devotion to Mary and it is important to us to mark this month in a way that brings us all together in prayer.
The Pre-Primary and Grade 3 pupils made Mandela Day cards for our charities and the Senior School packed the donated goods. Mrs Smith and members of our Interact Club visited Heaven’s Nest, Nazareth House and Erica Place to deliver the care packages and spread Marist joy in Mandela month. Thank you to our parents for donating so generously!
